Angola (ANG) became the 12th national team to qualify for the FIBA AfroBasket 2017

LUSAKA (FIBA AfroBasket 2017) - By beating South Africa 91-57 on Wednesday, Angola have qualified for the 16-team FIBA AfroBasket 2017 in Congo-Brazzaville in August.

Although South Africa had a strong opening quarter, it was a matter of time for the Angolans who closed the first half with a comfortable 45-23 lead.

With the win, Angola improved their FIBA Africa Zone 6 Group G record to 3-0 while South Africa dropped to 1-2.

Ghanaian swimmer qualifies for World Junior Championship

Ghana's Maayaa A. Ayawere placed 6th with her time of 38.37s in the finals of the 50m G1 breast stroke, Team. It means Maayaa has qualified to represent Ghana at the World Junior Swimming Championship in the United States of America come August.

She achieved this feat by placing seventh in her heats out of 11 countries and with her time she has been able push herself into the finals. More swimming stories as and when it breaks.

The 2013 FIBA EuroBasket winner had already agreed to be an ambassador for 'The Bridge', a project celebrating the centenary of the 1917 landing by 2 million American soldiers to take part in the First World War and as a result of this, the arrival of American culture in France and Europe.

Ghana will be getting a yearly cash injection of USD 100,000 from the Confederation of African Football under the Presidency of Ahmad Ahmad.

The Malagasy made this known earlier this week when he met staff of the CAF Secretariat in Cairo on his first working day in charge of football on the continent, reports Citi Fm’s Nathan Quao
Ahmad said that he would ensure that federations would get more financial support in his tenure but they would have to be accountable and transparent.

MARCH 29, 2017, ABIDJAN, Cote d'Ivoire - The Board of FIBA Africa held its annual meeting in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire on Monday and Tuesday (March 27-28), during which time it reviewed the activities that took place in 2016 and approved programs for 2017.

The app details the official FIH Rules of Hockey 2017, providing officials, players and fans with an easy-to-use and accessible resource.

Mobanode, who have created similar products for other sports including rugby and cricket, were commissioned to develop the app for hockey. The objective was to create a tool that not only helps officials but also gives athletes and fans a better understanding of the game.

Sierra Leone and Olimpija Ljubljana attacking midfielder, Julius Woobay has displayed a small but heartfelt act of kindness to a fan who was hit by a burning torch in the Slovenian PrvaLiga match.

The Sierra Leone international who during their league clash with Koper in Stožice picked up a burning torch from the field and threw it in the stands unintentionally caused a minor incident hurting and burning the jacket of the cheerleaders.
