Six World Indoor Championships medals will be reallocated during ceremonies at the IAAF World Indoor Championships Birmingham 2018 on Friday and Saturday 2-3 March. These upgrades follow the disqualification of the results of the original medallists after their sanction for anti-doping rule violations.
Among those receiving their reallocated medals is Tianna Bartoletta of the USA, who was promoted to gold in the long jump for the 2006 World Indoor Championships in Moscow. Her ceremony, which will include a flag raising and national anthem, will take place in Arena Birmingham at the start of the evening session on Saturday 3 March. ![]()

The 2017 MLS Cup champions Toronto FC begin defense of their crown with a rematch of the 2017 Eastern Conference Championship as they host Columbus Crew SC on Saturday at BMO Field (1 p.m. ET / TSN 1/4/5). The match represents the first of 10 opening-week games.

Closing the weekend with a Soccer Sunday doubleheader on FS1, Sporting Kansas City’s rock-solid defense featuring 2017 MLS Defender of the Year Ike Opara and Allstate Goalkeeper of the Year Tim Melia will welcome New York City FC and one of the league’s most prolific goal scorers David Villa to the always raucous Children’s Mercy Park on Sunday, March 4 (7:30 p.m. ET, FS1 / TSN). MIES (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019) - The list of teams to have qualified for the next phase of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers grew to twenty-two after ten more national teams from across Americas, Asia and Europe secured Second Round berths on Monday.
Argentina, China, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Lithuania, New Zealand and Spain, Uruguay and USA clinched places in the Second Round of the World Cup Qualifiers, which will consist of three windows in September and November 2018 and February 2019. ![]()
India may already have been presented with the ICC Test Championship Mace after being assured of the top place in the ICC MRF Tyres ICC Test Team Rankings at the cut-off date of 3 April but South Africa and Australia feature in a four-Test series from Thursday in what could be an interesting tussle for the second place.
India clinched the $1 million prize money for the second year running and South Africa will be similarly looking to seal the second prize of $500,000 which they are well placed to do. Making a huge splash during the offseason, Atlanta United isn’t slowing down its fast-paced offense anytime soon as the second-year club travels to face a confident-at-home Houston Dynamo on Saturday at BBVA Compass Stadium (3:30 p.m. ET, Univision). Boasting a nearly unblemished home record last season (12-1-4), the Dynamo are returning the attacking Honduran duo of Alberth Elis (10 goals, 4 assists) and Romell Quioto (7 goals, 3 assists), who collectively accounted for 17 goals and seven assists during the 2017 season. The five MLS sides competing in the CONCACAF Champions League hope to extend their tournament in the second leg, which takes place this week. Toronto FC host the Colorado Rapids on Tuesday while FC Dallas (Wednesday), the New York Red Bulls (Thursday) and Seattle Sounders FC (Thursday) return home in their respective Leg 2 matches. Speed skater Bart Swings was the toast of Belgium as he delivered the nation's first Winter Olympics medal in 20 years. The athlete, better known for his highly successful inline speed skating exploits, produced a devastating burst of speed to claim the silver medal in the mass start event in South Korea. In the 2017 edition of The World Games in Wroclaw, Poland, Swings demonstrated his appetite for sporting glory by winning two of the titles on offer at the inline speed skating track and adding a bronze for good measure. Four years earlier in Cali, Colombia he had been similarly dominant, also striking gold twice and making two further visits to the podium.

APR closed the gap at the top of the Rwanda Premier League to three points thanks to a lone goal victory over city rivals Rayon Spotrts in the Kigali derby on Sunday at the Amahoro Stadium.
Muhadjir Hakizimana’s 27th minute goal separated the two sides handing victory to the army side, who finished with a man less after Hakizimana was sent off five minutes before recess. ![]()
