Ahead of the meeting; CAFonline.com caught with the head coaches and captains of the two sides on their expectations;
Losing the first match will make us start the game with a one way mentality. We know the importance of winning the game if we want to continue in this tournament. There is 50/50 chance for both side, but Angola is the team that really needs the win.
We face each other in November 2015 in a friendly, but this is a totally different match and the result of the friendly will have no impact.
Manucho Diniz (Captain, Angola)
It will be a difficult match and we know it. We have spoken about the match amongst us (the players) and it will be a final for us and the start of the tournament for us.
We know DR Congo and what they are capable of doing. We need to control the match from the word go and in doing so we will stand a chance against our opponent.
Florent Ibenge (Head Coach, DR Congo)
We need to win. The three points are very important for us we will play to win as if we have no point. We expect Angola to fight with victory on their mind. We want to secure our qualification after this game and we will do our best to achieve it.
I won’t change my plans for the game. I know it won’t be an easy match since Angola is not an easy opponent. Our hard work and effort will play an important role in the match. All the players are ready we have had a full training today with the whole team. Honestly, I have a selection headache due to the readiness of my players and that’s a good point for my team. I will compose my team the way I like.
Joel Kimwaki (Captain, DR Congo)
We won the first match which was not very easy and we will play today’s game to win and qualify. We are very well prepared and ready for the match. We respect and adhere to the instructions of the coach and his choices. It doesn’t matter who is playing and who is on the bench. We are fully committed.
