18 January 2015 - The South African Men’s Under 20 National team, Amajita turned on the heat, walloping a wretched Tajikistan side 3-1 in a show of force here in St Petersburg, Russia on Sunday afternoon.
After being held to a 1-1 draw by Lithuania on Saturday, Amajita were not going to let their guard down again and went into overdrive from the word go.
The South Africans arrived in full cry, singing to the dressing room as stunned Russians looked in awe with most taking pictures and recording every Amajita tradition, a move that definitely set the tone for the swashbuckling game to follow.

After being held to a 1-1 draw by Lithuania on Saturday, Amajita were not going to let their guard down again and went into overdrive from the word go.
The South Africans arrived in full cry, singing to the dressing room as stunned Russians looked in awe with most taking pictures and recording every Amajita tradition, a move that definitely set the tone for the swashbuckling game to follow.
The match started at a fast pace and it was the South Africans who created two quick openings but Tajikistan averted danger on both occasions.
The two chances were a clear warning to Tajikistan who didn’t take the danger signs seriously and Amajita duly took the lead in the 26th minute when captain Motjeka Madisha finished off a well worked goal to give his side the early advantage.
Siyanda Ngubo then missed a golden opportunity to put Amajita 2-0 up when he beat the keeper but failed to tap the ball into an empty net as the South Africans continued to pour forward searching for the killer goal.
He almost made amends a few moments later but his ferocious shot was tipped over the bar by the overworked Tajikistan goalkeeper Emomali Soniev.
As Amajita continued to pile pressure, something had to give and substitute Tshidiso Monamodi finished off another well worked goal to make it 2-0 in the 38th minute.
The team being coached by David Notoane started off the second half from where they left off in the first half with Haashim Domingo scoring the third in the 50th minute, a goal that received plaudits from the sizeable crowd in this massive indoor complex.
The industrious striker received the ball from the right and his curling shot found the back of the net as the Tajikistan keeper dived in vain.
As expected with such a heavy scoreline, Amajita took the foot off the pedal allowing Tajikistan to fashion their own attacks but the defence well-marshalled by Madisha stood firm.
Tajikistan however, were awarded a penalty in the 70th minute and they reduced the arrears through Abdurasul Rakhmonov whose spot kick gave Sibongiseni Mkhize no chance.
Amajita had more opportunities towards the end of the match with Pule Maraisane orchestrating most of their attacks.
South Africa next play Kazakhstan on Tuesday, although Sunday’s win almost assures them a place in the quarter-finals.
