Cairo, Egypt, February 28, 2015 – Algeria fought for 118 minutes to overwhelm Kenya an in epic five-set match and eventually prevailed 3-2 (19-25, 25-15, 25-21, 17-25, 15-10) on day two of the 2015 Women's U20 African Nations Championship at the Eastern Company Hall on Saturday.
Egypt lead the three-team competition and are now confirmed finalists for the FIVB Volleyball U20 World Championship that will take place in Limassol and Kato Polemidia, Cyprus from July 3-12, 2015.
Egypt and Kenya will now meet in the final match on Sunday with the East Africans requiring a 3-0 or 3-1 win to join the host nation in Cyprus later in the year.
Setter Faith Imoida led Kenya in the fourth set as they tied up the match, but Algeria turned the momentum their midway through the tie-break and stayed in control to the finish.
