The Athlete caught the eye of the staff of the publication when he set a new African Long Jump Record of 8.40 meters at an Indoor Meet in Metz France on February 11th2018.
Manyonga’s remarkable story of surviving drug addiction and rising to world prominence in Track & Field is one of a kind and very inspirational. The star has his sights set on the Mike Powell’s World Record of 8.95 meters which he hopes to break before he retires and by all accounts with his current projection of improvement, its seems like only a matter of time before he achieves his goal.
Luvo Manyonga is currently competing at the 2018 World Indoor Championships in Birmingham UK from March 1st – 4th 2018 and will also be headlining the South African National Team to the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast Australia in April.
Congratulations from the Staff at African Sports Monthly Luvo Manyonga for breaking the African Indoor Mark in the Long Jump Event and being Named our Athlete of the Month of March 2018.
