Mauritius overturned the tables with a 5-2 win over Mozambique in the second leg clash at the weekend to march on 7-6 on aggregate. Stephen Nabar was the hero for the Islanders scoring four goals whilst Kelly Mariva fired in the crucial fifth goal. Silvestre Matusse and Matlombe Betinho were the scorers for Mozambique who won the first leg 4-2.
The Islanders, seeking to qualify for a major continental championship since the 1974 Africa Cup of Nations will face Cote d’Ivoire at the final round.
Striker Ally Rabbi once again proved his importance to the Tanzanian side with five goals, taking his tally to nine over the two legs. Kashiru Salum and John Samwel were the other scorers for the hosts. For Kenya, Mohamed S. Mohamed grabbed a hat-trick whilst Makame Ally, Dismas Kidesen and Hudehita Muhula were also on target, but it was little enough to help their cause.
Tanzania will be up against Egypt at the final round of the first ever qualifying series for the African Beach Soccer Championship.
Djibouti also booked their place following the withdrawal of Sudan, and will challenge Morocco for a place at the final tournament.
The final tournament will be held from 14-19 April 2015 in Seychelles with the finalists qualifying to represent the continent at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in July in Portugal.
