Ghana are the second most successful nation in AFCON history behind Egypt, having won the tournament four times (1963, 1965, 1978, 1982). They have also finished runners-up on four occasions, most recently in 2010 when they lost 1-0 in the final to the Pharaohs.
The West Africans qualified for the 2015 edition in Equatorial Guinea as Group E winners, suffering just one defeat in their six matches - a surprise 1-0 loss to Uganda in the penultimate round.
SQUAD OVERVIEW:
Avram Grant has selected a blend of experience and youth to represent their country in AFCON 2015. The squad contains many foreign-based players but a few have been afforded the chance to make their debut in the competition.
Ghana will be captained by Al Ain striker Asamoah Gyan once again, while Andre Ayew, Jonathan Mensah, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu and Mubarak Wakaso bring a wealth of experience to the group.
Grant has given youngsters Baba Rahman, Daniel Amartey, Frank Acheampong David Accam, Kwesi Appiah and Mahatma Otoo a chance to impress on Africa's biggest stage for the first time.
Notable absentees from the final 23-man squad are Houston Dynamo right-back Samuel Inkoom, Leicester City left-back Jeffrey Schlupp and Trabzonspor striker Abdul-Majeed Waris.
