Mzuzu, Malawi, May 18: Support Malawi Heidelberg a German chief, Heinrich Wegener says his organization will continue supporting the development of soccer from the grass root.
Wegner made the pledge recently when he donated four sets of soccer uniforms which he received from Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim.
Wegner was in the country and where among others, visited some of the projects his organization is funding.
He said he was impressed that despite the little financial and material support his organization is offering to Roscher Youth Development Centre a partner organization based in the northern town of Rumphi things were working well.

“I am impressed with what I have seen on the ground. We are giving them a little financial support but they have done a lot of great things on the ground,” he said.
Roscher Youth Development Centre, Executive Director, Moir Walita Mkandawire described the donation as timely.
“This donation will assist us a lot in our efforts to develop the game of soccer from the grass root. The donation has come at a right time.
“A lot of local clubs and schools here do not have uniforms and soccer equipment like footballs, so this donation will enable us to assist such schools and clubs,”Mkandawire explained.
The Germany based charity organization partnered with Malawi NGO, Roscher Youth Development Centre which is based in the northern town of Rumphi in implementing various social programs including the development of grass root soccer.
Through the financial and material support from the German charity Roscher Youth Development Centre has been training soccer coaches and referees.
