HOUSTON - On Monday, January 12, 2015, the Houston Marathon Committee will host it's annual "Why I Run" media day at Memorial Park on the trail in front of the Tennis Center at 10:00 a.m. Media are invited to interact with the local runners to find out why they run.
Runners participating in the event this year include:
Jackie Klayman - running the Chevron Houston Marathon in support of Ronald McDonald House, a charity that has supported her family through cancer treatments and an eating disorder. In her first year fundraising, Jackie has raised about $14,000 to date.
Rebecca Wells - running the Aramco Houston Half Marathon in support of the Snowdrop Foundation. Rebecca was diagnosed with stage three colorectal cancer less than two months after running the 2014 Chevron Houston Marathon and completed her chemotherapy treatment on January 7, 2015.

Becky Wade - a Houston athlete and former Rice University four-time NCAA Division I All-American, Wade will be running in the 2015 USA Half Marathon Championships. A 2016 Olympic hopeful in the marathon, Becky received a grant from the Houston Marathon Foundation to aid in her athletic development.
