Secretary General of Western Area Football Association (WAFA), Kasho Holland-Cole has urged its membership not to participate in the just commenced Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) LEOCEM FA Cup tournament.
In a public announcement, the WAFA scribe described the competition as an illegal tournament adding that SLFA has never contacted them for the implementation of the said competition.
“Until all mentioned are met, WAFA will not participate in any football activity organized by Isha Johansen and team.”
Holland-Cole also informed the WAFA membership of their planned divisional (first and second) competition which he said will commence pretty soon.
Meanwhile, the second edition of the LEOCEM FA Cup tournament kicked-off on Saturday March 5th in what was described as a colorful opening ceremony at the Wusum Mini Stadium in Makeni City, in the northern part of Sierra Leone.
The opening ceremony saw Ocean Boys defeat Teko Boys Society 3-0 with Ocean Boys skipper, Saidu Koroma bagging a brace.
The Champions of this year’s tournament will take home Le 40 Million while the runners-up will pocket Le 30 million and third place team will secure Le 20 million followed by Le 10 million for the fourth place team.
