Held in Cologne at the end of last month, FIBA showcased a brand new presentation booth which incorporated an exciting new design and more space than ever before.
This presented an opportunity to also exhibit some of the FIBA House of Basketball’s collection such as the Naismith Trophy, Shaquille O’Neal’s shoes and a variety of historical rule books and equipment.
Amongst them were: Aacer Flooring; Bodet S.A.; Bona; Conti, Continental Chemical Industries Co., LTD; Gared; Jinling Sports; Merry Sports Flooring Systems Co. LTD; Molten (FIBA Sponsor and Partner); Prestige Enterprise Int. Inc.; Robbins, Inc; Seicom; Sport System SAS; Stramatel SA; Sure Shot by Sport Grupa Ltd and Spalding.
Product categories represented in the village included backstop units, scoreboards, floorings, maintenance products and basketballs.
The concept of the FIBA Village was to once again welcome partners, helped by the presence of a music DJ and MC who combined to create a friendly and lively atmosphere.
With the added co-operation of the German Basketball Federation (DBB) who arranged for U10 boys and U13 girls to attend from local clubs, visitors were able to watch the youngsters demonstrate their skills on the FIBA downsized basketball court in the middle of the village.
Former Germany national team center Stephen Arigbabu was also on hand to coach the teams and there were many other on-court activities, including daily shooting contests with those taking part able to win jerseys and balls.
Held bi-annually and featuring more than 620 exhibitors from 44 countries, the event is among the biggest of its kind - creating new business and networking opportunities for company industry professionals.
The next edition is scheduled to take place from 7 to 10 November 2017.
