Football stakeholders and fans on Saturday August 29 staged a big demonstration at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) secretariat, Kingtom calling on Isha Johansen and her executive to step down.
The protest at the SLFA secretariat was backed-up with another at the Barmoi Hotel- where the world football governing body, FIFA representatives; Primo Corvaro and Kwesi Nyantakyi were meeting with the seven-man committee- that was set up to help identify the genuine delegates for the Football Association congress.
However, the intervention of Police personnel helped in quelling the chaotic situation at the football academy.
The protest came just a day after the meeting between the FIFA representatives and the seven-man committee ended in a deadlock as the stakeholders representatives kick against the suggestion made by both Corvaro and Nyantakyi- for them to allow Johansen completes her remaining two-year in office.
This is not the first time Corvaro has witnessed protest from stakeholders and fans, in September 2013 he was attacked by cross-section of stakeholders who were unhappy with his decision to setup an interim normalization as they were hoping that he would have reversed the Minister of Sports’, Paul Kamara decision to form a normalization committee.
