Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo is raring to make his long-awaited comeback in 2016 after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Mhlongo has struggled with various injuries, including a dislocated finger and an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury.
During that time, the former Buccaneers first-choice goalkeeper missed his team’s run to the CAF Confederation Cup final where they were beaten by Etoile du Sahel over two legs.
"I have missed a lot when I was our injured. I know my teammates did everything to help the team. They worked hard and did their best," Mhlongo told Goal.
"I wanted to be part of the team but my injury kept me out. Now I am fit and I am ready and willing to play. I want to be part of the team.
"I know I have to work hard to be part of the team as we have two great goalkeepers who are doing very well, but as I have said I am ready and willing right now."
Mhlongo could make a return to the Pirates starting XI when they resume their season against Platinum Stars on 9 January.
