In his second start in a Galaxy uniform, Boateng’s incredible speed caused problems for defenders the entire match, with LA defeating previously unbeaten Real Salt Lake by a dominating 5-2 margin. An offseason signing from the top-level Swedish league, the Ghana native powered LA with one goal and two assists while playing a full 90 minutes for the first time in his MLS career.
Boateng would score his first MLS goal in the 41st minute, as he slashed into the box and found a Gyasi Zardes touch in front of goal, poking a shot past Rimando for a 3-1 Galaxy advantage (Watch Goal). Minutes later, Boateng capped a tremendous half with his second assist of the match, his hustle and speed again paying dividends for LA. In the 45th minute, Boateng lost his footing in the box but managed to send a pass from the ground to a waiting Giovani dos Santos, who then sent an amazing strike far post and into the back of the net, capping a dominant first half for Boateng and the Galaxy (Watch Assist).
The LA Galaxy next travel to Children’s Mercy Park where they will take on Sporting Kansas City in Soccer Sunday action (8:00 p.m. ET., FS1/FOX Deportes).
