Chelsea’s Mohamed Salah has made such an impression during his four-month loan spell at Fiorentina, that the Italian club are determined to keep him for another year at least. According to Tutto Mercato Web, new manager Paulo Sousa will convince Salah to stay on in Florence and keep other suitors away.

It remains unclear whether the Egyptian will begin the 2015/16 season as a Chelsea player, and there are several clubs who are looking to notch him up. While a loan deal is what the Blues seem likely to agree, clubs including Fiorentina themselves and Atletico Madrid have also looked at the possibility of landing him on a permanent basis.

Salah signed for Chelsea from Basel in January 2014 for £11 million and scored on his debut against Arsenal. He couldn’t to kick on though, only making sporadic appearances from the substitutes’ bench and not contributing much of note. With the intense competition at Stamford Bridge, in February this year, manager Jose Mourinho decided to send him away on loan as a part of the deal that brought Juan Cuadrado to West London.

He made an instant impression at his new club, scoring in his first start against Sassuolo. He went on to net 9 goals in all competitions, including a memorable brace away at Italian champions Juventus in a 2-1 win.

In an interview two days ago, reported here by TMW, the 22 year-old’s agent explained that Fiorentina have the right to extend the player’s loan deal for another season, but Salah has the right to veto this move.

It is understood that Salah is keen to play in the Champions League, and after their 4th placed finish in Serie A last season, Fiorentina are only eligible to participate in the Europa League. Atletico, on the other hand, will be among Europe’s most elite. Sousa though, according to the report, will assure Salah an important role in his side and coerce him to stay.
