Lausanne, Switzerland, October 7, 2015 – FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° declared beach volleyball is on the verge of a "golden era” on Wednesday.
“After the success of London where beach volleyball was the No, 1 sport and the superb World Championships in the Netherlands, we are now heading to the home of beach volleyball next year at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
“After Rio, we then go to Japan in 2020 where they love volleyball and beach volleyball is growing in popularity every day. If Los Angeles wins the 2024 bid we are then heading to the birthplace of beach volleyball.
"With the likes of Vanuatu finishing second at last week's Asian Beach Volleyball Championship, it's a perfect illustration of the depth and growth of beach volleyball worldwide.
“These are definitely exciting times.”
