Dr. Danny Jordaan Charged

The Office of the Executive Mayor has noted the charges of corruption laid by the Democratic Alliance against Dr Jordaan today.

The charges are a pathetic and desperate attempt by the DA to tarnish Dr Jordaan's name and distract him from the excellent work he is doing in the Nelson Mandela Metro.

This is not about the bribery allegations but  all about the DA's attempt to position themselves for the 2016 local government elections.

First they accused him of being a part time Mayor, then they claimed that he will be getting two salaries and later, they said they will charge him for giving money to the poor out of his pocket.

All these allegations have proven to be not only fallacious, but laughable as well.

The DA's obsession with Dr Jordaan is a clear indication that they have nothing to offer to the people of this metro.

In June 2015 they tried to get the Portfolio Committee on Sport and Recreation to summon Dr Jordaan to Parliament but the Committee decided the Minister of Sport is best places to deal with the matter for reasons explained thoroughly by the Minister at the time.  

We are busy with our program to accelerate service delivery and improve governance in the Metro and we shall not be deterred.
