The winners of the maiden CHAN had a relatively easy mission in grabbing their first three points of the tournament.
DR Congo started the game on an attacking mote, and their first chance came as early as the tenth minute, when Guy Lusadisu's shot from a free kick just missed the target with Ethiopia's goalkeeper Abel Mamo beaten.
It was Lusadisu who broke the deadlock at the half hour mark. The towering striker was the first to meet Nelson Munganga's cross and his thumping header went inside the net with Mamo having no choice.
Both sides went into the break with DR Congo leading by a lone goal. But the scoreline didn't last for long. Another header from Heritier Luvambu gave the Leopards their second goal of the day few seconds into the second half. The Vita Club striker responded well to Lusadisu's cross to double the Congolese lead.
The Walias tried to respond, but weresoon dealt a blow. Midfielder Meschack Elia widened the gap between both sides after 58 minutes when he added DR Congo's third to end Ethiopia's hope.
The rest of the game was no different story, with Florent Ibengue's side trying to add to their tally, while the Ethiopians prayed for the end.
DR Congo tops the group with three points, with Angola squaring Cameroon later at the same venue.
