ST PETERSBURG, FL, USA – The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) announced today that doubles partners and sisters Chan Hao-Ching and Chan Yung-Jan have qualified for this year’s BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global. They are the seventh doubles team to qualify for the year-end event set to be staged at the Singapore Sports Hub October 23 through November 1, with one more spot yet to be determined.

The Chan sisters will make their debut appearance as a team at the WTA Finals in Singapore. Chan Yung-Jan will make her second appearance at the WTA Finals, after qualifying for the 2007 WTA Finals in Madrid with compatriot Chuang Chia-Jung. The duo from Chinese Taipei will be the third team of sisters to compete in the WTA Finals, after Serena and Venus Williams in 2009 and Katerina and Manuela Maleeva in 1986.

“This is a great opportunity and we’re very happy to qualify for the WTA Finals in Singapore,” said Chan Yung-Jan. “We just started playing as a team after Wimbledon, so we had to work extra hard to achieve this goal. This is huge for us and we are really looking forward to it - it will be my second WTA Finals and I can’t wait to go to Singapore.”

“I’m very happy to qualify for the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore with my sister,” added Chan Hao-Ching. “This will be my first time there and I hope we will have a good result.”

The Chan sisters’ season is highlighted by three WTA doubles titles – PTT Thailand Open - Pattaya City, Western & Southern Open - Cincinnati and the Japan Women’s Open - Tokyo. They also reached the final at the Toray Pan Pacific Open - Tokyo and are through to the final this week at the China Open - Beijing.
The 2015 WTA Finals features the top 8 doubles teams competing for the WTA Finals Martina Navratilova Trophy, while the top 8 singles players compete for one of the most prestigious trophies in women’s tennis, the Billie Jean King Trophy. With a record $7 million in prize money on the line, the round-robin singles and doubles competitions will be the highlight of the 10-day tennis festival that will also include the WTA Legends Classic, WTA Rising Star Invitational and a fan festival.

Tickets for the general public start at S$16.90 and can be purchased through Sports Hub Tix www.sportshub.com.sg/WTAFinals, the official ticketing partner of the 2015 BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.
