Caguas, Puerto Rico, September 16, 2015 - Once again, Turkey had to sweat in order to win at Pool H, this time tested by a defying Egypt at a 3-1 (25-16, 25-23, 18-25, 25-21) that pushed them closer to ninth place in Caguas.
Yagmur Kilic gave Turkey over a whole set at a complicated match, finishing at main scorer with 26 kills. Rida Erlalelitepe backed her up with 18, while Zehra Gunes added 7 blocks at her total of 12 points. In Egypt, Rahma Almohandes’ 20-point game and the positive entrance of Jailan Tawfik weren’t enough for their first win.

Despite the final distance, Egypt did well in the first chapter. They managed to stay close until the second time-out (16-14), but in the last track Ozbay fired some good serves and Kilic spiked the way for a crushing 9-2 sprint. The African team held to their spirit and moved to 20-16 on the next one, but mega-blocker Gunes brought back Turkey for a 2-0 lead.
Egypt found their reward on the third set, jumping to 8-2 with Tawfik and Mayar Mohamed in top shape. Opposite Tawfik gathered three aces to create a wide gap, one that Egypt maintained with Almohandes carrying the flag on defence and offense. That ignited Turkey’s immediate reaction, leading to a hard-fought fourth set, which Turkey could only unlock at the very end.
